Footrot in sheep

Footrot in sheep is both costly to the sheep industry and an animal welfare concern.  Footrot control programs require sound advice, good planning, sufficient labour and suitable facilities.  Any antibiotics must be authorised by your veterinarian.

Research presented by NZ veterinarian Dave Robertson showed very high cure rates when using tilmicosin for treatming footrot in merino sheep.  A paper published in the 2014 NZVA Sheep and Beef Conference Proceedings is linked here

TilmoVet injection contains 300mg/mL tilmicosin, and is registered in New Zealand for treating footrot.  A short video clip showing how to administer Tilmovet in sheep is linked here
