Pack Sizes

Available in resealable 10kg bags with a measuring scoop

Action

Monensin is an ionophore that increases energy from feed consumed in cows by increasing the ratio of propionate to acetate and butyrate produced by the rumen microflora.

Indication

For use with metered in-line water treatment systems:

  • As an aid in the control of ketosis.
  • As an aid in the reduction of bloat.

Dosage

Recommended daily dose: 0.75g Monotec per cow per day.

For example, 300g of Monotec will treat 400 cows per day.

Mixing directions: Follow the instructions for your particular in-line water dispenser system. Ensure dispenser is calibrated to dispense the entire solution tank into the water supply within a 24 hour period. Mix a fresh solution tank every day.

Measure out the required amount of Monotec based on 0.75g per cow per day. Pour directly into an agitated dispenser solution tank after any other ingredients have been added and thoroughly mixed. Continue mixing until all Monotec is fully dispersed in the solution tank. Thorough mixing is essential. Use an agitation pump to provide continuous stirring of the solution tank.

Some compounds are NOT compatible with each other when mixed. Check with your veterinarian or advisor first and if in doubt, keep the number of products added to the solution tank to a minimum.

Contraindication

Do not use concurrently with other products containing monensin. Do not exceed the recommended dosage as reduced daily gain may result.
Cattle consuming monensin should not be treated with products containing erythromycin, tiamulin or oleandomycin. Severe growth depression may occur.
