AgriHealth Innovations: Investing for the future
05 July 2023
AgriHealth Innovations, a division of New Zealand's leading farm animal health company AgriHealth NZ Ltd, is spearheading efforts to revolutionise farm animal medicines development.
A dedicated research facility was commissioned last year, to encourage focus on developing new farm animal medicines that will benefit New Zealand. This AgriHealth Innovation hub is located within 300 metres of the AgriHealth office.
The AgriHealth Innovations hub serves to advance the development of our NZ-centric vet medicines, with a particular focus on key areas such as Mastitis, Reproduction, Cow and Calf Care, and Vaccines.
To drive these ground-breaking initiatives, AgriHealth has assembled a team of highly experienced and skilled professionals. Heading the Innovation division is Dr. Richard Emslie, a renowned expert in the field. Dr. Fadil Alawi leads the veterinary
pharmaceutical developments and Dr. John Moffat leads vaccine development and clinical trials. This core Innovations team is supported by Dr. Laura Young, AgriHealth's Technical, Regulatory and Research Manager, and Ed Catherwood, Managing Director.
AgriHealth investment in Welfare Concepts Ltd
In line with AgriHealth's commitment to help local vets help NZ farmers to improve herd health and productivity, AgriHealth recently made a strategic investment in an early-stage company called Welfare Concepts Ltd, co-founded by Dr. Richard Emslie and Dr. Richard Olde Riekerink.
“AgriHealth and Welfare Concepts working together provides synergy to bring fast and effective NZ-centric vet medicines. AgriHealth Innovations' new product pipeline is very well complemented by our investment in Welfare Concepts”, says Ed Catherwood.
Welfare Concepts is at the forefront of developing an alternative to the painful disbudding process for younger calves, as well as four other products aimed at enhancing animal welfare. View here the full press release on AgriHealth's investment in Welfare Concepts Ltd.
