Action
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with a broad spectrum of activity against Gram positive organisms, and a limited range of Gram negative bacteria.
Indication
Pigs: For the treatment of porcine intestinal adenomatosis (Ileitis) associated with Lawsonia intracellularis.
Poultry: For the control of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in broiler and replacement layer chickens, caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum andor M. synoviae, and treatment and prevention of necrotic enteritis associated with susceptible strains of Clostridium perfringens.
Cattle: For reducing the incidence of liver abscess in beef cattle.
Dosage
Mix thoroughly in feeds before use.
Pigs:
To treat Ileitis, feed 400g premix/1000kg complete feed, which equates to a concentration of 100ppm tylosin.
To prevent Ileitis, feed 160g premix/1000kg complete feed, which equates to a concentration of 40ppm tylosin.
BROILER CHICKENS and REPLACEMENT LAYERS:
To control CRD, feed 3,600 – 4,000g premix/tonne feed, which equates to a concentration of 900,– 1,000ppm tylosin. Feed for 5 days after hatching. Repeat for 2 days at 3 – 5 weeks of age.
To treat necrotic enteritis, feed 400g premix/tonne feed for 7 days, which equates to a concentration of 100ppm tylosin.
To prevent necrotic enteritis, feed 400g premix/ tonne feed during periods of clinical disease risk.
Laying Chickens:
Feed 88–220g premix/1000kg complete feed, which equates to a concentration of 22–55ppm tylosin. Feed from time of shifting into laying cages.
Beef Cattle:
Complete Feed: For reduction in the incidence of liver abscess feed 44g premix/1,000kg complete feed, which equates to a concentration of 11ppm tylosin. Feed during the period on ration.
Supplementary Feed: Feed 60–90mg tylosin/head/day.
Withholding times
Meat: Cattle Nil. Pigs Nil. Poultry Nil.
Eggs: Nil.
Special Precautions
The prophylactic and therapeutic use of this product should be limited to the minimum period needed to meet the clinical objectives.
